WriteClub Aphorism Contest Winners:

Life ends abruptly and painfully, but at least you didn’t have to live it as a tree.

I’ve debated my life and almost took it, but then my life took me and showed me something I’d thought I’d never feel again: Love.

My weakness was always holding on.  I grasped onto everything I ever had, and the very notion of letting go terrified me. But now that the heavenly bliss of death waited, I let everything go. I had nothing left to fight for.

Momento Mori

“Momento Mori” was his last breath,
And against El Toro he fell to death.

Eclipsed by the point of a single spear,
Jutted across the hide of the snarling steer,
then up past the ear.
Gleaning the blood from the wounds in this game,
The fighter performing as always the same,
but this time gouged fatal, claiming accidental fame.

“Momento Mori” was his last breath
And against El Toro he fell to death.

(love)

Always, and forever—interrupted by normalcy.
