Got way to high last night and forgot about the deadline - gonna make it tonight at 10 est for those of you that wanna send something in!

http://rickycisco.com/submit - submit your aphorism here.

rickycisco:

Hi everyone. This weeks aphorism contest topic is Politics (or anything related, especially current events.)

  • Submission must be in the form of an aphorism.
  • Please reblog this post if you participate (or support it!)
  • Please do not write about WriteClub.
  • Contest ends Thursday 10 pm EST.

I’ll be featuring the top 3 submissions and the best aphorism gets a featured paid highlight.

To kick it off here is an aphorism I really love by Gilbert Keith Chesterton,

It`s perfectly understandable that the wolves call for the sheep to be disarmed. Sheep`s wool offers a certain resistance to the wolf`s bite.

Thanks for participating, have fun.

“the government doesn’t elect anybody…”

degreesminutesseconds replied to your post: How the government deals with perceived racism: elect a brown person to bomb brown people.

the government doesn’t elect people, unless they have some voodoo ways of polling citizens to determine how they’ll vote and then encouraging specific voter segments to turn out. Crazy conspiracy theories.

I don’t think the government elects anybody. Unless all those conspiracy theories are true.

Thanks for your thoughts. Although I’m not fan of conspiracy theories I’m not sure if election process is as equitable as you may think.

The answer is in structure. No voodoo required, only intelligent people with a lot money and power on the line. Populations are more predictable than you think.

First, control who can vote. Drug possession charges will eliminate a very large portion of the population that usually opt for change and more freedom. The criminal justice system keeps people on probation as long as possible - this not only brings in more money, but keeps their voices silent.

Two, control who you can vote for. The election system is very much designed to trump population votes with the use of ‘delegates’ and the electoral college.

Three, control the media. Have you ever heard of the ‘Fairness Doctrine’?

The Fairness Doctrine had two basic elements: It required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Stations were given wide latitude as to how to provide contrasting views: It could be done through news segments, public affairs shows or editorials.

Basically this doctrine held the few companies with broadcast licenses accountable for putting out false news or disinforming the public on controversial issues. The media was NOT allowed to lie. In the 1980’s this Doctrine was dissolved under the Reagan administration and vetoed again by the Bush administration. Why? Just watch this… “Faking It: How The Media Manipulates The World Into War.”

The Media also manipulates people into voting trends - just look at how Ron Paul has been completely ignored in the past decade.

The government doesn’t magically choose its own president - but it spends billions to ensure that the president they want is elected.

Four, corporate interests. Campaigning costs money and when you are going to be in a position to pass laws, large companies want ear time. Every politician, except for maybe Ron Paul, has intrinsic ties to investments that their power to repeal and enact laws will benefit.

Five, the public school system. There is a reason kids are forced to salute the flag. There is a reason the public education system destroys creativity, self autonomy and intellectual achievement. Politicians rarely come from the public education system.

Six, religion. In God We Trust is the mantra. It’s on our monopoly money and capital buildings. The religious minded are dogmatic, easy to bring to fervor and easy to control. All Bush had to say was that he believed he had divine purpose in the White House to have millions eager for the Jihad he would wage against the middle-east.

As Stefan Molyneux says, democracy is nothing but a suggestion box for slaves.

WARNING SIGNS FOR CITIZENS:
People likely to commit violence go into politics, military and speak against their citizens.
They blame you, drugs, the internet and brown people for their problems.
Unusual / extreme actions such as unlawful detainment, breach of privacy, murder and theft.
Active in popular media, 3rd world countries and your personal life to spread fear, hate and discontent. They then offer solutions to all 3.

that’s it. I followed you back because you posted humorous content, and I enjoyed when you started going philosophical. but if you’re going to pay a dollar to put up a glaringly annoying little arrow to promote your own political beliefs, we’re done.

Political beliefs? Do you think not killing people in other countries, letting people do what they want with their bodies, not hating people because they have different life choices is in the realm of belief

I have no political beliefs and I don’t vote. My position is simple.

Taking a stance on not killing, controlling others, and stealing are not beliefs - they are absolutes.

I will certainly pay a dollar to tell people who think violence and theft is in the realm of ‘belief’ and ‘opinion’ - to be voted for or against - that they are sick, stupid, mother fuckers.

If you’ve committed a non-violent, victimless crime you are not ‘allowed’ to vote. But if you’ve dropped bombs on brown people, hate gays, and want to control what people do with their bodies - well then, you are certainly allowed to be voted for.

Although I don’t consider myself american, or acknowledge their laws or imaginary borders - if you vote for anyone besides Ron Paul you are a sick, stupid, motherfucker.

When I think of ‘loyalty’ I think of politics. Loyalty is for dogs. Loyalty is for those content eating their own vomit.
